Five Indian batsmen hit half-centuries on the day two of the four-day warm-up match between Cricket Australia XI (CA XI) and Indians at Sydney.
After the day one was completely washed out in rain, CA decided to field first after winning the toss on the day 2 morning. Total five Indian batsmen played 50+ knocks that helped Indians to manage 358 runs before getting all-out in the first innings.

While the opener KL Rahul once again failed by scoring only 3 runs, another young opener Prithvi Shaw played the highest knock in that innings as he scored 66 runs off 69 balls (11 fours).

All the next four batsmen hit half-centuries in the same innings while the no.7 batsman Rohit Sharma played a 40-run knock off 55 balls (5 fours and only six). The no.3 batsman Cheteshwar Pujara scored 54 off 89 balls (6 fours) while the next batsman skipper Virat Kohli was caught and bowled after scoring 64 off 87 balls (7 fours and only six).

Ajinkya Rahane was retired out after scoring 56 off 123 balls (only four) while Hanuma Vihari managed to score 53 off 88 balls (5 fours). At the end of the innings, the wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant remained not out on 11 runs.
To build up a good first innings total, Indians had four 50+ partnerships. Shaw & Pujara had an 80-run partnership for the second wicket while Pujara & Kohli managed to put a 73-run partnership for the next wicket. Later, Rahane & Vihari had an 81-run partnership for the fifth wicket and Rahane & Rohit had a 62-run partnership for the following wicket.
Among the CA XI bowlers, only the 19-year-old pacer Aaron Hardie was able to pick up more than one wicket in that innings as he had a bowling figure of 13-3-50-4. While his first victim was Kohli through a caught & bowled dismissal, later he led for India’s late batting collapse by dismissing Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammed Shami in quick succession.

CA XI played only four overs on that day before the day was called off and they were batting on 24/0 as both the openers D’Arcy Short (10*) and Max Bryant (14*) remained unscathed.
