While India’s four-match away Test series in Australia is going to begin soon (from December 6), Afridi claimed that Kohli needs to win a series abroad to prove himself as a top skipper. Afridi further added that Dhoni should be the perfect example for Kohli to follow as a captain.

Recently, Afridi told India TV, “As a captain, Virat needs to win a series abroad. I keep saying that how Dhoni has changed the course of Indian cricket as a captain and as a player, it’s the perfect example for Virat to follow.”

However, Afridi has no doubt on Kohli’s batting skills and he believes that Kohli’s records prove itself. Afridi also revealed the special thing about Kohli which he has been impressed hugely.

The 38-year-old spoke about the no.1 ranked Test and ODI batsman, “Virat’s records speak for himself, it just shows what a player he is. The most impressive thing I’ve seen about Virat is that he even takes the nets as a match, so whatever he does in the nets, he displays it in the match. He takes the responsibility upon himself and it seems like he loves to face the challenges ahead.”

After the three-match T20I series that ended with the 1-1 result, the hosts Australia and the visitors India will now meet for the four-match Test series, starting on this Thursday. While many experts believe that India has the best chance to win their first Test series on the Australian soil, Afridi has also a similar view on it.

The former Pakistan captain commented, “India can win the series Down Under because Australia doesn’t have the team that they used to. India have a superb batting line-up and they have improved their bowling as well.”
