Former Indian pacer, Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, is convinced that as soon as his ban from playing competitive cricket gets lifted, he is keeping himself ready to give the new generation “a run for their money,” even if he gets to play even for a period as short as six months.
The Bigg Boss season 12’s runner-up reckons that the last 105 days inside the Bigg Boss’s house was crucial for him to return to the original self that he had lost touch with when he was alleged of spot-fixing and was sentenced a lifetime ban from playing the sport by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Sreesanth was even got arrested on being found guilty of corruption and spot-fixing in an internal inquiry held by BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit led by Ravi Sawani, back in 2013 during the sixth edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL). The then Rajasthan Royals player had confessed of the crime but later in a letter to the Board expressed that his confession to the police was under duress.

In his letter, the pacer wrote, “Under the threat of arrest of my close relatives a statement was forcibly taken in the manner directed by the police. There is no confession recorded by me willingly to the police. The police have mentally and physically harassed me and obtained signed statements.”
Last year, Sreesanth had filed a petition seeking a response from the authorities as he moved to the Supreme Court to challenge the Kerala High Court’s verdict to stay the ban. BCCI officials are still taking their former stance and replied that they will not compromise with corruption.

In 2017, Videos of Sreesanth converting his newly constructed house into a practice arena went viral.
IN his interview with Times of India, Sreesanth said, “I totally deserve a chance to play club cricket, so that I at least get to prove my fitness levels and play for the Kerala cricket team. People who are guilty and are proven so, are playing international cricket. And here I am telling my sad story, which hurts.”
