The Indian pacer Shardul Thakur recently claims that he is getting better every day and he is hopeful to return to the best rhythm in a few weeks.
Thakur made his Test debut in last October during the Hyderabad Test against Windies. The 27-year-old right-arm pacer had a very bad experience in that game as he suffered from the groin injury after bowling only 10 balls in that game and then he was ruled out from the series.
Due to that injury, the right-arm pacer missed the game for more than two months. At the end of December 2018, Thakur made his return to the game during the 2018/19 Ranji Trophy group stage game against Vidarbha at Nagpur. The Mumbai pacer bagged two wickets in that game.

While he played a massive role during the Chhattisgarh game as Mumbai won by nine wickets, Thakur told TOI, “I’m getting better every game, every day. The way I bowled against Vidarbha (his first game since coming back from injury), on Days One and Two was different. I improved on Day Two. Here at Wankhede, I improved from the last game.”

Thakur also added that he was currently focusing to find rhythm rather than speed and he also hoped to become fully fit at soon.
The Mumbai pacer claimed, “At the moment, I’m not worried about speed. I need to bowl as many overs as I can in a match, and take that experience with me, so that when I play at a higher level, I can take that workload. Talking about my speed, it will come. I’ve been training, doing my fitness sessions.
“I’m at the 90 per cent mark. I’m coming out of a major injury. If I say I’m bowling at 100 per cent, or if I try to bowl 100 per cent, it will be silly of me to do that immediately. As I said earlier, I’m progressing slowly, so hopefully, I’ll get there in a few weeks.”

However, Mumbai’s journey in the 2018/19 Ranji Trophy is going to be ended at the end of the group stages. While it is the first time for Thakur to fail to qualify for the Ranji Trophy knockouts, he feels it painful.
Thakur said, “It’s painful. All these years we’ve made the knockouts. we’ve made the semis, played in two finals. since I started playing for Mumbai, this is the first time that we’ve not qualified for the knockouts. It was painful sitting at home and watching your team not do well. A lot of times I felt that I should be playing out there helping the team, but I couldn’t do much since I was injured.”
