As the Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya and the batsman KL Rahul are returning to the country to face an inquiry for their controversial comments at the Indian talk show “Koffee with Karan”, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Edulji is opposing the initial inquiry process that will be conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) CEO Rahul Johri.

Recently, both the cricketers have been suspended by the BCCI for their nasty comments in the Indian talk show “Koffee with Karan” that is hosted by the famous Bollywood producer and director Karan Johar. Many have interpreted those comments as misogynistic and sexist remarks and criticised both the cricketers along with that show.
Later, both have apologised to the BCCI in the reply of CoA’s notice. However, BCCI hasn’t convinced with their replies and has decided to proceed against both for misconduct and indiscipline.
While they have been suspended with immediate effect, they are returning to the country to face an inquiry. But the CoA member Diana Edulji is not happy with the initial inquiry plan that will be conducted by Rahul Johri. As earlier Rahul Johri had the sexual harassment allegations, Edulji feels it will be the bad optics and CoA will be criticised for that.

Recently, Edulji wrote to the CoA chief Vinod Rai on that mater, which claimed according to Sportstar, “in view of the grave sexual allegations levied on the CEO, it wouldn’t be justified, if he conducts the inquiry. It’s bad optics and COA will be criticised for it.

“We should be in no hurry to conduct the inquiry as then it will look like a cover up job being done. The behaviour of the players have been very controversial and should not be co-related with debilitating team strength. With 2 players coming back the Selectors are in the process of sending the replacements immediately and as such the team will be full strength.”

She further added, “The (BCCI) constitution does not provide for appointment of an ad-hoc ombudsman as such it wont be prudent to go down that lane. The inquiry should be done by the COA along with the three Office Bearers or the COA along with the Secretary who is still functional and carrying out his duties.”
