The fourth ODI of the 5-match ODI series between New Zealand and India at Seddon Park in Hamilton has become a nightmare for the visitors. After winning the toss, the Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson decided to bowl first and his bowlers Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme wreaked havoc for India. As a result of the same, the Indian team was bundled out for a meager score of 92.
After clinching the series in the third ODI itself, the visitors were looking all set for another win but, the Blacaps had a different plan. The Kiwi fans can finally say that the hosts have brought in some measure of parity to this series. India thoroughly dominated the first three games, but in Hamilton, it has been a no contest. The ball swung, bounced and seamed early in the innings, and India were all at sea.
None of the Indian batsmen were looking good on the field and their dependency on the top-order was exploited by the New Zealand bowler. In the absence of regular skipper, Virat Kohli, the top order was looking dull, adding insult to the injury, Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed early by Boult which created immense pressure. Once the dismissal of the stand-in skipper, Rohit Sharma, things were already uphill with the middle order exposed early. That is not been a usual thing for India recent times.

Boult was outstanding, using his swing to overwhelm the Indian batsmen. He was accurate with his consistent lines and lengths, fed the drive with his fuller lengths, and outdid the batsmen with late movement and inducing errors from the batsmen. He finished the innings with a spell of 21/5 in his quota of 10 over. De Grandhomme came out to bowl after the first 10 overs and he kept the pressure on from the other end by dismissing Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik in his over itself.
Hardik Pandya tried to provide some resistance but he was also dismissed by Boult in the 20th over as he only managed to score 16 runs off 20 balls. Despite the fact that the Indians have a strong bowling attack, but 93 runs aren’t sufficient for even them to defend. India’s bowling has not been really tested in terms of pressure so far this series, but they will in Hamilton.
Here are some of the reactions on Twitter for India’s dismissal performance:
India bowled out for a sub-100 total in ODIs for the first since August 2010. Their last under-100 total was also against NZ in Dambulla. #NZvInd

This is a sport and it is not played by machines. Bad days happen. We need to be patient and not over react.— Boria Majumdar (@BoriaMajumdar) January 31, 2019
