The fourth ODI of the 5-match ODI series between New Zealand and India at Seddon Park in Hamilton has become a nightmare for the visitors. After winning the toss, the Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson decided to bowl first and his bowlers Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme wreaked havoc for India. As a result of the same, the Indian team was bundled out for a meager score of 92.
Boult swung the ball both ways along with some assistance from the pitch, he became too much for the Indian batsmen. India failed to get to the 100-run mark and was bowled out for 92. There were opposite scenes in the second innings. New Zealand finished the match before under the 15-over mark, romping to an emphatic 8-wicket win in 14.4 overs.
It all started with a trademark Boult in-swinger that exposed Shikhar Dhawan’s weakness against the moving ball, thudding onto his front pad. Being fair to Dhawan, he was looking in sublime touch before falling prey to Boult’s deadliest weapon against the left-handers.

His next two wickets had nothing to do with the swing as he got some grip off the pitch combined with the Indian batsmen playing early. First, it was Rohit Sharma, playing in his 200th ODI, who chipped it straight back to Boult and then it was 19-year-old debutant Shubman Gill (9) playing away from his body with an uppish bat. In both cases, the bowler had the presence of mind and the fitness to bend down in time to the catches comfortably.
The fourth wicket came in the form of Kedar Jadhav, who looked clueless in front of Boult. After surviving a close LBW shout couple of deliveries ago, Jadhav once again failed to cope with Boult’s incoming delivery. Seeing the others fall like ninepins, Hardik Pandya decided to take the attack to Boult and was successful too for a brief period.

But that spelled doom for Pandya as he was surprised by A deadly bouncer from the southpaw pacer which got Pandya to fend at one for 16, ending India’s hopes of posting a total in excess of 100. He finished the innings with a spell of 21/5 in his quota of 10 over.
