Mahendra Singh Dhoni one of the fittest cricketers going around in the world. Despite being in the twilight of his career, his hunger for keeping his fitness top notch is remarkable. One can see the example of it in running between the wickets by Dhoni. It is very hard to admit that Dhoni is 37 years old and is more fit than the younger crop of players.
Former Indian cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra gave a sneak peek into Dhoni’s net practice sessions. He revealed that the Indian stumper does everything in the nets. From batting to bowling, both spin and pace, MS doesn’t leave anything while practicing.

Chopra revealed this while commentating the third T20 International match between New Zealand and India. He said “We’ve spoken about the number of innings he’s had as a keeper, but you will never see him keep. It’s only in the matches he will don the gloves. In the practice sessions before the game, the warm-up sessions the day before or on the eve of the game, you will never see him don the gloves at all. He’s bowling in the nets, batting, bowling spin, bowling fast – he doesn’t keep. And still, he’s that good.”
Despite not keeping in the nets, Dhoni is faster than anything while keeping in any match. The lightning-quick stumping of him was seen during the third T20I when he sensed an opportunity to get rid of Tim Seifert. Apart from it, there have been several such examples of Dhoni’s Excellency behind the sticks.

Furthermore, Aakash Chopra mentioned that despite not being the captain of the side, Dhoni is always involved in every big decision in the match. MS stepped down from the captaincy in January 2017 and passes the baton on to Virat Kohli.
“The other thing we are seeing now, even though he’s not the designated captain, is leadership. That’s been a massive part of his career,” Chopra added.
Dhoni is in good form ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, which will be held in England. It is highly likely MS can retire any time after the World Cup.
