All eyes were firmly on home favorite MS Dhoni as the players of India and Australia cricket teams touched down in Ranchi for the third ODI of the ongoing five-match series. The hosts are having a 2-0 lead in the series courtesy of their close wins in Vizag and Nagpur respectively.
The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli and his men will be looking forward to taking an unassailable 3-0 series lead at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi — the hometown of Dhoni. Although the former Indian skipper receives the thunderous amount of respect wherever he goes in the country but whenever he touches down in Ranchi, the sight is something to behold.

On Wednesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) uploaded a video of Dhoni receiving a warm welcome as the players were making their way out of the airport. The post read: “Ranchi – Look who’s here – @msdhoni #TeamIndia #INDvAUS.”

Earlier, India pulled off an eight-run victory in a low-scoring humdinger after all-rounder Vijay Shankar picked two wickets in the final over of the second one-day international on Tuesday. The Australians needed 11 runs from the last over with two wickets in hand but Shankar kept his nerves to pick a wicket off his first and third balls in Nagpur.
Earlier in the game, Kohli smashed 116 in the first inning as India reached a modest total of 250 and he asked Shankar to bowl the final over ahead of the regular Kedar Jadhav, and he was rewarded amply for his move.

Kohli also appreciated Shankar for his brilliant all-round display as Vijay had impressed with the bat as well. He had joined his skipper Virat Kohli in the middle when India was reeling at 75 for 3 on a pitch where stroke-making was tough. However, he completely turned the tide in India’s favor. He shared 81 runs with Kohli to lay the foundation for a good total.
