Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has come forward and urged the cricketing stalwarts of India to inspire their fans across the country to set a new record of ‘high voter turnout in the elections’. The Election Commission of India, on Sunday (March 10), announced the dates for the Lok Sabha election 2019. The Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. However, the counting on May 23 and the Lok Sabha election 2019 results will likely be declared on the same day.

According to a survey, nearly 90 crore voters will be eligible to vote for 543 Lok Sabha constituencies across the country. However, PM Modi wants each and every voter to cast their votes. And in order to make sure the Indians get inspired and go to the polling booths, the PM has sought help from cricketing stalwarts as well. Mr. Modi took to Twitter to post a message, tagging MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma and asking them to come forward and play their part in making democracy win.

PM Modi feels if that happens, democracy will be the winner. He tweeted, “Dear @msdhoni, @imVkohli, and @ImRo45, You are always setting outstanding records on the cricketing field but this time, do inspire the 130 crore people of India to set a new record of high voter turnout in the upcoming elections. When this happens, democracy will be the winner!”

In another tweet, PM Modi tagged former players Anil Kumble, VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag and made the same request to them, he tweeted: “Dear @anilkumble1074, @VVSLaxman281 and @virendersehwag – your heroic deeds on the cricket pitch have inspired millions. Come, it is time to inspire people once again, this time to vote in record numbers. “

Meanwhile, with the election dates announced, the BCCI is likely to announce the complete IPL schedule in coming days. Last month, the board had announced the schedule for the first two weeks of the IPL while stating that the full schedule will be announced once the election dates come out. The twelfth edition of the cash-rich tournament, nonetheless, will start on March 23.
