Handling the ball. How’s that?

Tymal Mills is known for his pace and bounce. The 24-year old left-arm fast bowler from England has perhaps become a renowned name in the list of the modern cricketers who freelance in T20 leagues around the world. He was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping INR 12 crore ahead of this season.

Along with his pace, comes his variations as well. In RCB’s second match against Delhi Daredevils at Bengaluru, he deceived Amit Mishra more with his astute skills than just his speed.

In what was the fourth delivery of the 18th over, he bowled a 107ks slower delivery which never really came for Mishra. For all we know, the batsman was expecting a delivery at express pace. Watching the ball being banged, in short, Mishra instincts forced him to swivel his bat. Later did he realised that the ball was still on its journey.

By the time, the ball reached Mishra, he had completed his bat-swing and was waiting for the ball with his palm facing the bowler. To produce a dot ball at that stage of the match in addition to forcing the batsman to take an atypical position must have been satisfying for him.
