India is still fighting hard to find the perfect combination for the number 4 place. One such player who is a strong contender is none other than Ajinkya Rahane. Though with his consistency he finds a permanent place in the test squad he is finding it hard to make to the team for the limited overs.

It’s difficult for Rahane to make a place in the team as both Rohit and Dhawan are performing well for the opening slot. Also, the advent of KL Rahul has made things tougher for the jinx. Rahane looks forward to working harder in nets nowadays just to make him eligible for the spot. The skipper Virat Kohli said that Rahaneis the third opener which means he would only get a chance if the other two openers miss it. And presently the team selectors are all looking for new combinations for making a perfect team before 2019 World Cup.

But Rahane has found it difficult to rotate strike or hit the big shots in the middle overs as he has a strike rate of 78 in the One Day form, which has been one of the main reasons for his omission from the Indian team. Ajinkya Rahane had a great net session and thanked Sachin Tendulkar for helping him in the practice before the all important Australian series. He took help from master blaster to improve his shot selections.

When in the last ODI Dhawan was unavailable to play against Lanakans Rahane got a chance and now Dhawan is heard to have been ruled out of the game to attend his wife’s ill health which might bring Rahane to the forefront.

We will have to wait to see if Rahane gets a chance to be a part of the team for the Australia series.
