During the toss, Kohli revealed that they have made three changes in the squad as Shivam Dube, Prayas Ray Barman, and Colin de Grandhomme, made way for Akshdeep Nath, Navdeep Saini, and Marcus Stoinis. On the other hand, RR also made a couple of changes as injured Sanju Samson and Jaydev Unadakat made way for Stuart Binny and Varun Aaron.

RCB had a great start to their innings as they scored 48/0 after the powerplay overs. However, soon after that, they lost the plot as they lost two crucial wickets of Kohli and AB de Villiers in alternate overs. He even got the wicket of Shimron Hetmyer as well in the next over.
On the penultimate ball of the 14th over, Jofra Archer was bowling to Patel and it was no-ball. Archer bowled length ball, wide outside off, and Patel guided it towards the short third man. Who grabbed the ball and aimed it towards the stumps and the direct hit at the batsman’s end reflects towards short fine leg. Patel and Stoinis took a quick single after that and the former completed his fifty as well.
