After a span of around 30 years, India and Australia are facing each other in Chennai in an ODI match. The last time they met at the same venue, the visitors had sealed the game. In fact, history suggests that Australia has never lost an ODI in Chennai.
However, India will be hoping to continue their winning run as the men in blue has recently defeated Sri Lanka 5-0 in an ODI series. Out of last 10 ODIs, Virat Kohli’s men have won 8, lost 1 and 1 game against Windies were washed out.
In the 1st ODI, Virat had won the toss and decided to bat first, however, the decision was backfired as Team India was down to 87 for 5 at one stage but, then came Hardik Pandya who saved the sinking ship of India building a partnership of 115 runs along with MS Dhoni.
Pandya played an innings of 83 off just 66 deliveries and Dhoni anchored his innings well from the other side. After the completion of 36th overs, Hardik started the beast mode as he smashed 3 back-to-back sixes off Adam Zampa. Before that Pandya was playing at 36 off 45 balls but after those hits, there was no looking back for him as he smashed 48 runs in next 21 balls.
It was the third time in his career that Hardik has smashed 3 back-to-back sixes to a bowler. First, it happened in CT 2017 against Imad Wasim then again in Champions Trophy final against Shadab Khan and now today. On 2 of these occasions, there were leg-spinners.
Here is the video of those ferocious hits from Pandya:
