With the World Cup 2019 in England and Wales scheduled to commence in the next 15 days and the Indian team is considered as one of the favorites to lift the coveted trophy this year. One of the major reasons behind the same is the formidable top-3 of the Indian team, which has performed exceptionally over the last few years. Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma have all stepped up and delivered pretty consistently.

Dhawan and Rohit form the most successful opening pairs in the business and they are expected to play a crucial role in the mega event. Men in Blue will open their campaign against South Africa on June 5 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. The duo was playing against each other in the just-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) from past 6-7 weeks.

However, they’ll reunite on May 22 as Team India will be heading to England for the World Cup campaign. Ahead of the mega event, Dhawan was asked if he was in touch with Rohit during this period. Replying to the question, Dhawan funnily mentioned that Rohit is not his wife and they don’t need to discuss much between them.

As per the quotes in Times Now, Dhawan said, “Baatein karke kya hoga? Woh meri biwi thodi na hain! (What’s the point in discussing things? Rohit isn’t my wife) If you play with someone for years, you’ll know him inside out. With Rohit, there’s nothing special that we do. It’s just the mindset. Even if I bat with Prithvi (Shaw), the game remains the same. If one person gets going, the other man plays a supporting role.”

Dhawan and Rohit started batting together way back in 2013 and since, the duo has had 103 partnerships together, having scored 4586 runs at an average of 44.96. They have amassed 15 century and 13 fifty partnerships.

Dhawan and Rohit’s contributions have been beyond words in India’s surge to the top in limited-overs cricket. Even last year, they were amongst the leading run-getters in the ODI format. The pair has to fire on all cylinders if India is to win the World Cup for the third time after 1983 and 2011.
