Just a month ago the cricketing fraternity was busy in guessing the next head coach of Team India with a lot of fans also expecting to see Sourav Ganguly at that post. Incumbent Ravi Shastri’s contract ended after the tour of West Indies and the BCCI had started the process of coach selection before that.

Eventually, Shastri has retained his position as he surpassed Tom Moody, Mike Hesson, Robin Singh, and Lalchand Rajput to remain India’s head coach. His current contract will come to an end after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup in 2021. One can now expect Ganguly to throw his hat in the ring when the BCCI opens the gate for the next head coach.

However, Sourav has dropped yet another hint on coaching the current Indian team. While he did not sound too excited, he made it clear that the job does interest him. Currently, he is the president of Cricket Association of Bengal, mentor of Delhi Capitals, hosts a Bengali quiz show and also does commentary occasionally.

Talking about the same same during the sidelines of Tata Steel Kolkata 25K launch, Dada said, “Let one coach finish, then we will think about the other coach. In any case, I am already a coach. I look after the Delhi Capitals in the IPL. In my first season last year, they did well. They went to the semifinals from being last for last seven years so it’s been good.”

This is not the first time, Sourav expressed his desire to become the India coach. In the past too, he had expressed his desire of taking the lucrative job. Around a month ago, he had confirmed that he would apply for the post in the future.
