The Indian Premier League (IPL) announced the trades of fast bowlers Trent Boult and Ankit Rajpoot for the upcoming season of the league on Wednesday. While Delhi Capitals traded New Zealand’s pace-spearhead Boult to Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals bagged the services of Ankit Rajpoot from Kings XI Punjab. Rajpoot had the stunning bowling performances ever when he took 5/14 in a league game in 2018 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at their home ground. Rajpoot has so far played 23 games and picked up 22 wickets at an average of 27.95 and also the only uncapped player to have a five-wicket haul in the IPL.
Trent Boult, on the other hand, made his IPL debut in 2014 and has played for DC in the 2018 and 2019 season. The left-arm pacer has 38 wickets from 33 games at 29.47 in his name. Rajpoot is the second Punjab player who has been traded to another team after their captain Ravichandran Ashwin has moved to Delhi Capitals earlier this month.
Previously in IPL, Ashwin has played for Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiants and Kings XI Punjab and won IPL twice with CSK in 2010 and 2011.

“It has been a wonderful journey with Kings XI Punjab. I will always look back fondly at the two years I spent with the Kings and will miss all my teammates. I am looking ahead to new challenges. I would also like to thank the fans for their endless support over the two years, it was incredible to see them come out and support their team,” Ashwin was quoted as saying by the Kings XI Punjab website.
However, it will be interesting to see how the New Zealand paceman Trent Boult will add his value for one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) – Mumbai Indians.
