Even though, Team India will not be playing any Test matches at home till February 2021 now, the four-day cricket in the country hasn’t even started. The domestic cricket in India is gearing up for the upcoming season of the Ranji Trophy- India’s premier First-Class competition, as it is scheduled to commence on December 9.
Most of the teams have already announced their probables for the training camp ahead of the all-important season. Delhi has named their list of 30 shortlisted candidates for the training camp, starting on Tuesday. And, it’s a star-studded list thirty-member list that Delhi has released as it includes the likes of Indian captain Virat Kohli, One-day and Twenty20 opener Shikhar Dhawan, discarded Test wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and the lanky pacer, Ishant Sharma. The Indian pace spearhead became the first bowler from the country to notch up a five-wicket haul with the Pink Ball.

Speaking of the possibility of these players featuring for Delhi in the upcoming Ranji Trophy, it is highly unlikely that Kohli, who plays all the three formats for his country, would feature, but the upcoming season could be a great opportunity for the likes of Ishant Sharma, who plays only one format and especially the duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant, to participate in the First-Class season and get back their lost form.
It has been a tough few months for both the southpaws. While Dhawan has still been figuring his form in the shortest format, Pant has come under intense scrutiny for his performances- both with the bat and gloves- and his shot-selection in the past few months. And, after having lost his first-choice wicket-keeper’s position in the Test side, a good Ranji season can be a blessing in disguise for his beleaguered confidence.

Meanwhile, Delhi will kick-start their Ranji Trophy 2019-20 season against Kerala.
