On Friday, BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry proposed an action at the board’s finance committee meeting to increase redemptions for the women cricketers and domestic players along with the Test match specialists.

It has been observed that the above-stated group of players miss out on the profitable IPL deals and hence a proposal has been put in place which will benefit such cricketers.

According to a BCCI official, according to the new model (if considered), senior men cricketers, who feature in domestic tournaments and receive INR 25,000 in daily match fee and that will be increased by INR 10,000. Senior women cricketers may see their match earnings rise to Rs 12,500 per day — they now get Rs 3,500.

It has been learnt that the BCCI committee is about to make some structural changes to the new revenue model and review it before sending it to the Committee of Administrators (CoA). The proposals have increased the annual retainership fees for women cricketers: INR 50 lakh each for the four players in Grade A, INR 30 lakh each for the six players in Grade B and INR 15 lakh for the 10 players in Grade C. As of now, the women get Rs 15 lakh and Rs 10 lakh each in two categories.

The committee is planning to narrow the gap created by the IPL bidding, for players like a Test specialist. If the latest proposal gets a green signal then a player like Cheteshwar Pujara, who doesn’t feature in the IPL, will get around INR 2 crore.
