Sarfaraz Khan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arjun Tendulkar Selected for Mumbai’s CK Nayudu Trophy quarterfinal squad

Mumbai have named a balanced squad for the quarter-final of the U23 Col. CK Nayudu Trophy at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Hardik Tamore will lead the team for the match against Pondicherry, scheduled to hold from February 22 to 25, 2020. The squad consists of some big names in Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arjun Tendulkar and Sarfaraz Khan.

Jaiswal had already in the news in 2019 after becoming the youngest to hit a List A double century during the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The left-hander then went on to become the Player of the Series award in the 2020 U19 World Cup in South Africa. There he notched up 400 runs at an average of more than 130 with a century against Pakistan in the semi-final as well.

Yashasvi Jaiswal also has a first-class experience and will have a bright future in the future. As far as Sarfaraz is concerned, he has a wonderful domestic season so far. In the 2019-20 edition of the Ranji Trophy, Mumbai failed to do well in the knockout stage, but Sarfaraz in six matches managed a stunning 928 runs at a huge average of 154.66.

He scored an unbeaten 301 against Uttar Pradesh, his former domestic team and then scored an unbeaten 226 against Himachal Pradesh in Dharamshala and 177 against Madhya Pradesh in Mumbai. He was arguably Mumbai’s standout batter so far in the tournament with Shams Mulani scoring 514 runs as well.

Coming to Arjun Tendulkar, the all-rounder who made his U19 debut against Sri Lanka in 2018 but he is yet to include in the Mumbai first-class team. He also didn’t feature in the U19 World Cup where India lost to Bangladesh in the final. He was named in Mumbai’s 15-member squad for the ‘Bapuna Cup’ last year, a tournament organized by the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) too.
