Sports Fraternity Appreciates Essential Service Providers’ Effort in Fight Against COVID-19 Pandemic

India’s sporting fraternity came together on Sunday to salute the essential services providers involved in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, by clapping for them or sharing gratitude through videos on their respective social media handles too.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged everyone for a ‘Janta Curfew’ and express gratitude towards the health-care workers and other basic service providers amid this dangerous situation, and his appeal received a great response from all the citizens on Sunday evening.

Indian men’s hockey team coach Sjoerd Marjine shared a video of all the players clapping at their training centre in Bengaluru. Wearing the team’s jersey, the players positioned themselves on different floors of the building and clapped for them as well. On the other hand, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag took to Twitter and shared his gratitude as well.

“A big Salute to all the warriors who are working tirelessly. May this pass soon and may there be peace, peace and peace. Om Shanti Shanti,” he tweeted.

“I thank all the health-care workers and all the people in the frontline fighting COVID-19. You are the real heroes I salute you,” Bajrang Punia tweeted.

Former India captain and also the coach Anil Kumble took to twitter and shared his gratitude on Twitter, “Thank you to all the heroes who are helping us in fighting COVID-19. Let us stay strong and continue our fight.”

“Today India came together even while staying in our homes. While we are at home there are many who are selflessly performing their duties. Thank you to each one of you for putting us before yourself. The discipline & commitment we showed today needs to continue,” Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.

Coronavirus has affected not only everyone’s lives but also sporting events across the globe which not only included the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League but also many international series where no decision took place as the situation has not changed much in the last few days amid the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country as well as globally.
