The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to host rest of the PSL matches in November if the situation gets better as the current season has been postponed on Tuesday before the semifinals amid the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, shared CEO Wasim Khan on Sunday.

“But we have to first sit down and discuss the situation with all the franchise owners because they are also suggestions that Multan Sultans which topped the points table should be declared winners or to have these remaining matches before the PSL-6 early next year,” he told the media in a teleconference.

He again said that they wouldn’t face any financial issue even if the COVID-19 pandemic continues and any matches don’t take place for a year. He also said that the Board had suffered a few financial losses due to the rescheduling and suspension of the PSL.

“The Coronavirus pandemic has affected the entire world and sports globally. In this crisis time at present we have money and are not facing any financial crisis,” he said. “Approximately our losses are around 200 million rupees due to loss of gate money and some sponsorship revenues.”

He also revealed that the Board had earned well from the sale of television, radio, digital media and sponsorships in the PSL as well and lost around USD 3 to 4 million revenue due to the postponement of the ODI and Test match against Bangladesh which were scheduled to take place in April but has been pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He further said that they have been searching for new sponsors and broadcasters for the domestic and international matches. He shared that Pakistan’s next international series will be against Ireland, the Netherlands and England from June onwards and they have decided to start the new domestic season from September-October.

“But everything will depend now how this coronavirus situation develops. It is a big challenge for all sports and sports world bodies, including cricket,” he concluded.
