Karnataka Cricket Association Donates 50 Lakh for Noble Cause

The outbreak of the Covid-19 virus has affected the world severely. It has brought the world to a standstill with many countries being completely lockdown for safety and to contain the spread of the virus.  Originated in China, the Covid-19 virus has affected more than 723,200 positive cases which lead to more than 33,900 deaths across the world.  Many major sporting events have either been postponed or canceled in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic affecting the globe.  Cricket has also suffered a similar fate with many international and domestic matches being canceled. The Indian government has shut down the country n a nationwide ock to ensure safety and contain the spread of the virus. As a matter of fact and in a noble gesture the Karnataka Cricket Association has decided to donate 50 lakh each to the central and state government to help them fight the spread of the Corona Virus across India.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on Sunday said it would donate Rs 50 lakh each to the central government and the state government for their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. “KSCA through BCCI wishes to contribute Rs 50 Lakhs to Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund and Rs 50 Lacs toward CM Karnataka Government State relief fund,” the spokesperson said.

“The donation is towards strengthening the central and state in this disaster management capacities and encourage research to combat COVID-19 and protect the citizens. The KSCA will continue to monitor and work closely with Government of Karnataka and other state regulatory bodies and we are committed to provide any other necessary support to the state machinery,”  he added.

The pandemic spread of the virus has affected more than 1000 cases across the India subcontinent which has lead to more than 25 deaths in the country. India’s apex cricketing body, the BCCI has also donated 51 crores to the  Pm Cares fund.

Other than Karnataka State Cricket Association, many other states and cricketing associations have come forward to help the noble cause and donated charity to the PM Cares fund. Cricket Association of Bengal, Mumbai Cricket Association and Saurashtra Cricket Association are among the others who have supported Prime Minister’s cause.
