Pakistan All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez Reveals When He Will Retire

Veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez wants to play for Pakistan in this year’s T20 World Cup before quitting international cricket. The World Cup is scheduled to play in Australia later this year. Hafeez said in an interview that he wants to represent his country in the World T20 and help them to do well in the tournament.

“After World T20 I have decided I will retire from international cricket and just focus on playing in T20 leagues,” he said.

Mohammad Hafeez has already announced his retirement from Test cricket and only plays the limited-overs format now. Hafeez at 39, also said that he has not decided what he will do after his retirement from the game of cricket.

“It could be coaching, I don’t know when the time comes I will make up my mind,” he said.

Mohammad Hafeez, who has played 55 Tests, 218 One Day Internationals and 91 Twenty20 International for Pakistan, has returned to the Pakistan team for the T20 series at home against Bangladesh last month after the national selectors had ignored him after the ICC Cricket World Cup last year in England. However, the former T20 captain involved in trouble with the Pakistan Cricket Board when he made criticism with the move to bring back the tainted Sharjeel Khan into the national team again.

The upcoming edition of Indian Premier League 2020 is likely to be cancelled due to the situation surrounding COVID-19, the novel coronavirus pandemic in India, as per the report in The Indian Express. The mega auction, which was scheduled to take place before IPL 2021, will also be postponed by a year. Moreover, the franchises can retain the same squads they have for this year’s league and they will be given an option to pick or drop players as well.
