Former Pakistan skipper, Javed Miandad reckons that the cricketers who have committed match-fixing should be hanged till death. Comparing spot-fixing to “killing someone,” Miandad also added that he has no sympathies or forgiveness towards those who try to hamper the game of cricket.

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Miandad said, “Players who are involved in spot-fixing should be severely punished. Spot-fixers should be hanged because it is similar to killing someone and so the punishment should also be on the same lines. An example should be set so that no player even thinks about doing something like this. These things go against the teachings of our religion (Islam) and should be treated accordingly.”

Miandad’s comments came in the wake of Pakistan allrounder Mohammad Hafeez‘s having his say on punishment dished out to those involved in corrupt practices.

In a recent video on Shoaib Akhtar’s channel, Hafeez had claimed that he had to play with teammates who were involved in wrong practices but couldn’t raise his voice knowing he was playing for Pakistan.

Hafeez had questioned the return of Sharjeel Khan to the Pakistan team after the batsman had completed two-and-a-half-year ban for match-fixing, and Miandad agreed with the all-rounder, saying the PCB should not be giving such cricketers second chances.

Miandad explained, “PCB is not doing the right thing by forgiving them. People who bring these players back should be ashamed of themselves. I feel these players who are found guilty are not even sincere to their own families and parents or they would never do this. They are spiritually not clear. These activities are not good at all on humanitarian grounds and such people don’t deserve to live.”
