The Indian women’s cricket team has qualified for the Women’s ODI World Cup 2021. The Indian team did not get the government clearance to play Pakistan and had to share points because of the same. The tournament is scheduled to be held in New Zealand India with hosts New Zealand, Australia, England, and South Africa is the fifth team to get a straight entry into the Cup.
On Wednesday, ICC’s Technical Committee announced that teams will share points in the ICC Women’s Championship that did not take place. The Women’s World Cup is scheduled to be played in New Zealand from February 6 to March 7 in 2021.

“With respect to the India v Pakistan series, the Technical Committee concluded that the series could not be played because of a Force Majeure event after the BCCI demonstrated that it was unable to obtain the necessary government clearances to allow India to participate in the bilateral series against Pakistan, which forms a part of the ICC Women’s Championship,” said the ICC in a statement.
India has won 10 and lost eight out of matches they have played in the ongoing ICC Women’s ODI Championship, Last time around, The BCCI women team lost to England in a nail-biting final back in 2017.

Due to diplomatic tensions between the two countries, India and Pakistan only play each other during ICC Tournaments. “The India-Pakistan series was originally scheduled in the sixth round of the competition, between July and November 2019, but despite the best efforts of both the boards, it was unable to take place,” it said.
Speaking on the qualification rules, Hosts New Zealand and the next four highest-placed teams have qualifed for the tournament.

“Australia, England, South Africa and now India have qualified by virtue of being the top four. Pakistan (19), New Zealand (17), West Indies (13) and Sri Lanka (5) complete the table,” the statement added.
The World Cup Qualifier is scheduled to be played from July 3-19 in Sri Lanka. However, it’s future is uncertain due to the pandemic spread of the Corona Virus across the globe.
The 10 teams competing for the three remaining slots are Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland, Thailand, Zimbabwe, Papua New Guinea, United States of America and Netherlands.
