India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun has said a little break between the Indian Premier League 2021 and the T20 World Cup 2021 would have been good after Team India failed to make it to the semifinals.

New Zealand, on Sunday, beat Afghanistan in their final league match and secured second place from group 2 in the semifinal, which eventually knocked out India from the tournament.

Indian players were busy in the IPL 2021 just two days before the T20 World Cup began. However, the Super 12 stage began on October 23 but the toll was heavy on the Indian players who were on the road for the last six months.

Bharat Arun talked about how winning the toss made much difference between the teams and the exclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal.

“Toss should not be of any consequence but here the toss gives a very undue advantage, there is a huge change between batting in first innings and batting in second innings, which should not be the case in a very short format like this,” said India’s bowling coach.

“That is for the selectors to decide, we can only play with the team that has been given to us and I would not like to delve too much into that.”

He further talked about the bio-bubble life and how a break between the IPL 2021 and the T20 World Cup 2021 would have been ideal. Team India are on the road since late May and haven’t returned to their home since then.

“Definitely being on the road for six months is a huge ask, the players have not gone home ever since they had a short break after the last IPL. They are in a bubble for the last six months, which takes a huge toll. So very specific to your question, a short break between the IPL and World Cup would have done a lot of good for these boys,” he added.

India will play Namibia in their final league match of the tournament on Monday in Dubai.
