During India’s woeful tour of Australia in 2012, there was a match which put lights on the rise in the standards of Indian fielding. It happened in the second T20I of the tour at Melbourne. India had already lost the test series 0-4. They had even lost the first T20I by 31 runs.

George Bailey, the then Australian captain had won the toss and chose to bat. Australia kept losing wickets at regular intervals, some to Indian bowlers and others to the Indian fielders. As many as five dismissals happened, extensively with the help of the fielders.

Ravindra Jadeja, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina were all instrumental in the field. Their brilliance restricted Australia to 131-10 in 19.4 overs. Praveen Kumar and Rahul Sharma picked up two wickets each. On the back of Gautam Gambhir’s unbeaten half-century, India won the match by 8 wickets.
