During the fourth match of the Rothmans Cup between New Zealand and India in 1990 at Wellington, Kapil Dev snatched victory from the hands of the Kiwis as India registered their maiden win of the tournament after losing to New Zealand and Australia by 108 and 18 runs in the first two matches respectively.

Mohammad Azharuddin, the then Indian captain, had won the toss and chose to bat. Indian batsmen got starts, but none of them converted them into a substantial innings. As a result of which, India were bundled out on 221 in 48.2 overs. Kapil Dev, who scored 46 (38) with the help of four fours and a six was the highest run-scorer for India.

For New Zealand, Danny Morrison (9-0-33-3) was the highest wicket-taker. In the second innings, Mark Greatbach (53), Richard Hadlee (46) and Ken Rutherford (44) joined hands to seal victory for their team. However, Kapil Dev had other plans. His sharp bowling in the death overs did not let that happen as the home team lost by a run.

Dev ended up with figures of 9.1-1-45-2. Apart from him, Manoj Prabhakar, Ajay Wassan and Narender Hirwani picked up three, two and one wicket respectively. Watch the full video:
