Former Indian opener, Aakash Chopra accepted his mistake of misinterpreting young India cricketer Shubman Gill to be limited to only being a player of the ODIs and Tests. Shubman Gill has been witnessing a purple patch in his career in blazing hot form as he has continued his Midas touch in almost every match, every series, and every format of cricket that he has been playing, ever since he made his international debut in India.
Shubman Gill played an outstanding knock of 126* off 63 deliveries in the third T20I to guide team India to their biggest victories, by a margin of runs, in the history of T20I cricket.

Talking about the youngster in the latest video on his Youtube channel, Aakash Chopra said, “The first question in your mind might be whether Shubman Gill has become a T20 cricketer now. I will keep my hands on my heart and say the truth – I felt he plays Tests very well, ODI is his favorite format but I wasn’t 100 percent certain about T20s.”

The former India batter claimed that he had been daring enough to comment on Gill’s role for the Indian team, stating that he felt Gill would be fit to play only Tests and ODIs for India. Aakash Chopra used to believe that Gill still needed to be trained for the competitiveness of T20Is as he was too young and raw.

Explaining the same, Aakash Chopra concluded by saying, “I admit it, I say in front of everyone, there is nothing wrong. He has made such a big score now, it is fantastic. I eat my words, they are very, very bitter. It is the truth that it is the highest T20I score by an Indian. If we talk about the gap between his individual score and the opposition team’s score, that’s also the second highest. The Afghanistan guys were in front of Virat Kohli in the Asia Cup and now it is about here.”
