The ongoing IPL season has been a challenging journey for the Mumbai Indians, with the team struggling to find their rhythm on the field. Despite playing 10 games, Mumbai Indians have only managed to secure victory in three matches, suffering defeats in the remaining seven encounters. A notable point of concern has been the underperformance of MI’s batting unit, which has been a significant contributing factor to their losses.

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra echoed similar sentiments, expressing his observations ahead of Mumbai Indians’ upcoming clash against Kolkata Knight Riders. Chopra emphasized that MI’s top-order batsmen have faltered in their recent away games, particularly highlighting the disappointing form of key players like Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, and Ishan Kishan.

Reflecting on MI’s struggles in their recent away fixtures against Rajasthan, Delhi, and Lucknow, Aakash Chopra underscored the crucial role of batting in determining the team’s success. He emphasized that despite MI’s formidable batting lineup, the lack of substantial contributions from key players has been a cause for concern.

“The batting had a lot of might but that hasn’t been seen. Suryakumar Yadav’s form has gone south. He was dismissed early in all three games – Rajasthan, Delhi, and Lucknow. It was the same story for Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan as well,” Aakash Chopra remarked in a video on his YouTube channel.

Notably, Suryakumar Yadav has managed to score only 46 runs in his last three innings, while Ishan Kishan has accumulated 52 runs in his last three matches. Additionally, Rohit Sharma has struggled to make an impact, failing to reach double figures in his recent outings.

As Mumbai Indians strive to revive their campaign and secure a spot in the playoffs, they face a daunting challenge against Kolkata Knight Riders, who currently occupy the second spot in the standings with 12 points from nine matches. With just six points in 10 games, Mumbai Indians need to string together convincing performances in their remaining fixtures to keep their playoff hopes alive.
