Former Indian opener, Aakash Chopra has come forward for  Yashasvi Jaiswal on Friday after the young Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener was trolled over his low strike rate during a 34-run knock against Delhi Capitals (DC) at a venue which has witnessed some humongous sixes in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

Jaiswal, who was coming on the back of two single-digit scores, refused to throw his wicket away but couldn’t;t managed to score runs at an accelerated strike-rate while the team was chasing 185 runs against DC on Friday. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 34 but played 36 balls for the same before getting dismissed on a slower delivery from DC all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.

A troll named ‘tuk-tuk academy’ posted a morphed image of MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav and indicated that Yashasvi Jaiswal was welcomed to the academy for his slow knock. Notably, Dhoni and Jadhav have been facing the heat in recent times for their slow knocks in the IPL 2020.

Aakash Chopra came out all guns blazing on the troll and urged others to ‘leave the kid alone’, as he tweeted: “Have a heart. That’s all I’ll tell you. Leave the kid along, please. I am sure that senior players can take a joke but it’s unfair to expect same maturity from a 19yo”

Aakash Chopra further added, “Before mocking a 19yo cricketer, please ask yourself—what were you doing when you were 19? The kid you’re making fun of has already represented India at U-19 level, was Man of the Tournament at the World Cup & has scored a double-century in List-A cricket for Mumbai.”

India’s U-19 World Cup star Jaiswal, who was in superb form with the bat during the U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy, was bought by ROyals for his consistency and he was also included in the playing XI.

Jaiswal was in a phenomenal form at the U19 World Cup in South Africa where India failed to get over the line in the final against Bangladesh. In the 6 World Cup innings, Jaiswal had 5 fifty-plus scores–including a hundred. The only time he didn’t get a half-century was against Japan when India was chasing only 42.
