Former India player turned commentator Aakash Chopra has shared England’s bowling as their potential weakness ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. He stated that Jofra Archer could be totally out of form when he is not in rhythm. However, England are placed in Group C in the T20 World Cup 2026, taking place in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “The bowling unit as a whole is okay, okay. It doesn’t give you a lot of confidence. Josh Tongue, T20 career – okay, okay. Jamie Overton is good, but I don’t know. Adil Rashid, maybe he is past his prime, but I find him a very good bowler. Jofra Archer, if he is hot, he is super hot, but when he is cold, he is super cold. So that could become a cause for concern.”

“Except for Harry Brook and the openers, it seems like everyone is playing out of position. So that could be a potential banana skin or a weakness. So that could definitely be a problem with this team. Spin bowling is also okay, okay. Bowling department in total is not that great. So England’s problem could be their bowling,” he added.

However, Aakash Chopra opined on whether the conditions in Sri Lanka for the Super Eights stage of the T20 World Cup 2026 would suit England as well.
“Their next group (Super Eights) will be very interesting. It could be a mini Asia Cup or it could be two Asian teams along with New Zealand and England. However, for that, they will have to go to Sri Lanka, Pallekele and Colombo. Don’t know whether the conditions there will suit them or not, but that’s for the second round. So that could be a potential banana skin. You will destroy the opposition at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, but you might find Pallekele and Colombo a little difficult,” Aakash Chopra concluded.
