Former Indian opener, Aakash Chopra feels that MS Dhoni can be expected to rule the roost in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 even if he doesn’t manage to produce desired results with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). While analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of CSK, Chopra said Dhoni will always be an influential figure of the franchise.

While it will be interesting to see how MS Dhoni performs with the bat after a break that stretched to more than a year, Aakash Chopra believes his experience will definitely help the franchise.

In a video on his Youtube channel, Aakash Chopra said, “MS Dhoni is the biggest strength of the team. As long as he is there, CSK’s heart keeps beating and they move forward. MS Dhoni, the player, and the captain has a great impact. MS Dhoni, the batsman, we haven’t seen him in a long while. There are questions as to whether he will be able to hit the ground running or bat the way he used to in the past. Keep in mind, he is very experienced, and you don’t get experience in the supermarket”

Chennai Super Kings have suffered 2 major setbacks when their seasoned campaigners, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh made themselves unavailable for the IPL 2020 due to personal reasons. Despite their absence, CSK has the depth, as pointed out by their veteran all0-router, Shane Watson, to fill the holes and pose a challenge.

However, Chopra pointed out that the long break that most of the veteran cogs of the team have had might be a cause of concern.

Explaining it further, Aakash Chopra said, “Their second strength is the spin department. They have others like Mitchell Santner, Imran Tahir, Karn Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Piyush Chawla. When you have 5 spinners of this caliber, you can play 2-3 together whenever you want. Their spin bowling department, even when you take the all-around bowling attack, they have very quality. When it comes to all-round bowling attack, CSK is at the No. 1 spot.”
