Veteran India player turned famous commentator Aakash Chopra has said that India’s swashbuckling batsman Suryakumar Yadav should be a part of the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Yadav has played a match-winning 53-run knock off just 44 deliveries in India’s three-wicket win in the second ODI against Sri Lanka.

Although he couldn’t carry forward his form and make it big, his contribution laid the foundation for the next players. And, Deepak Chahar sealed the win along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar. In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra stated that Suryakumar Yadav will be seen playing for the Indian team at the much-awaited T20 World Cup.

He said: “Let me put my neck on the block, I am saying Suryakumar Yadav will be in India’s T20 World Cup team although there will still be debate and competition, but I feel he will pip somebody to the post. There is only a 15-member squad in the ICC events but this player will make his place in that fifteen, he has been absolutely sensational.”

Suryakumar Yadav has scored at a firm pace in the middle-overs and can be the best choice for India in the middle-orders for the T20 World Cup. Although there are many players fighting for limited spots, Yadav’s chances are good as he has already shown his calibre. Moreover, he will have the second phase of IPL 2021 to showcase his talent again before the mega event as well.

He expressed: “Suryakumar Yadav is a different kind of player. Two years ago, Suryakumar Yadav used to bat up the order and was unable to score runs after the powerplay. But now the game we have seen, he is batting at No.5, he plays as though he is made for that position. The Indian team could need someone at No.5.”

Aakash Chopra concluded: “The clouds can cover Surya’s shine for some time but cannot hide it. The Surya eventually shines and this Surya has shone once again, he has smashed a half-century.”

Notably, Suryakumar Yadav hit six boundaries during the course of his 53-run knock. While India won the three-match ODI series with one game in hand, they will play the next game on Thursday as well.
