Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra was full of admiration for Virat Kohli’s exceptional performance as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched a thrilling victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) by four wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday, March 25. Kohli’s scintillating knock of 77 runs off 49 deliveries, adorned with 11 boundaries and two maximums, illuminated the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, steering RCB towards the target of 177 against a formidable PBKS bowling lineup.
Despite the early dismissals of captain Faf du Plessis and all-rounder Cameron Green, Kohli’s masterclass ensured RCB remained on course, maintaining a controlled run rate throughout the chase. A dropped catch by Jonny Bairstow off Kohli’s second delivery proved pivotal as the seasoned batsman capitalized on the opportunity.
Aakash Chopra, in a video on his YouTube channel, commended Kohli for his exquisite stroke play during the match-winning innings, singling him out as the standout performer of the day.

“Virat Kohli was my top performer of the day in this match. His batting was exceptional. Despite the early lifeline, he went on to hit four boundaries in the first over itself. His aggressive approach, particularly against Kagiso Rabada, showcased his dominance,” remarked Aakash Chopra.
Aakash Chopra highlighted Kohli’s six off Rahul Chahar’s bowling over cover as a defining moment in the match, suggesting it compelled the opposition to reconsider their bowling strategy. Reflecting on Kohli’s form, Chopra expressed optimism for an outstanding season ahead for the veteran cricketer.
Following Kohli’s departure in the 16th over, with RCB still requiring 47 runs off 24 deliveries, Dinesh Karthik’s explosive cameo of 28 not out off 10 balls proved pivotal in steering RCB to victory. Chopra lauded Karthik’s stellar finishing prowess, particularly against the formidable Arshdeep Singh, underlining the pressure he imposed on the opposition.
“Dinesh Karthik’s remarkable innings deserves recognition. Despite facing India’s premier bowler Arshdeep Singh, Karthik’s aggressive approach rattled the opposition, showcasing his enduring class,” stated Aakash Chopra.
