Former India player turned commentator Aakash Chopra has picked his Indian team’s playing XI for the third ODI against Afghanistan. He added that Arshdeep Singh should be left out if Nitish Kumar Reddy is fit and available. The final ODI between India and Afghanistan will be played in Chennai on Saturday, June 20. India have already sealed the series with resounding wins in the first two games as well.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “Yashasvi has been played only one match. So let him play. Bite the bullet and say that we want to play Nitish Kumar Reddy if he is fit, so we will play like this only. Make Arshdeep Singh sit out and play Nitish Kumar Reddy. Say that you won’t make Yashasvi sit out because I have got no idea when he would get a chance to play again.”
“As soon as Kohli returns, there won’t be a place for Ishan. So, if Ishan Kishan, who scored a hundred just now and scored runs in the first match as well, will be sitting outside, Yashasvi has no chance at all. In such a scenario, you want him to get one more chance,” he added.

“Open with him, Shubman Gill at No. 3, Ishan at No. 4, Shreyas Iyer at No. 5, KL Rahul at No. 6, Nitish Kumar Reddy at No. 7, Washington Sundar at No. 8, Kuldeep Yadav at No. 9, and then followed by the two young fast bowlers – Gurnoor Brar and Prince Yadav. That would be my team,” Chopra again shared.

However, Aakash Chopra also stated that India don’t need a frontline sixth bowling option and they should get Nitish Kumar Reddy to bowl his full quota of 10 overs as well.
“Why do you need an extra bowler? Make only these five bowlers bowl, that we need the entire 10 overs from Nitish Kumar Reddy. We know no one in our top six bowls, Yashasvi might bowl a little, but this is what we want to do. We don’t want to go with an extra bowler. We don’t need five full bowlers. We are ready to play even with four and a half. Afghanistan are not looking a match to India’s might. They are trying, but it’s not happening properly. Afghanistan, bat first if you win the toss again, because you will be hit again if you bowl first,” Aakash Chopra concluded.
