Former India cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra picked India’s top five Test batters amid the series against Sri Lanka. India won the first Test by 165 runs at Galle, with the second Test ongoing in Colombo as well. However, Aakash Chopra’s first pick was legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar. He added that Tendulkar, as a Test batter, was the most complete.

“I don’t think there is anyone better technically equipped than him. Not having a long lean phase across generations and decades, if you speak of Test cricket, he has to be right up there. He will feature in my top five,” he said. (via Crex). “If you look at the five years before retirement, Kohli had only three hundreds. But he has been an outstanding Test cricketer. He has over 9000 runs and has scored them in difficult conditions, be it in Australia or South Africa. He has scored big hundreds and made four double hundreds in a single season.”

However, Aakash Chopra also called out fake news on Sachin Tendulkar’s India playing XI for the 2027 World Cup as well.
According to the report, Tendulkar’s team had shocking exclusions, leaving out Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer as well.

“Sachin’s team for the World Cup has Rohit, Gill, Virat, Sanju Samson, KL Rahul, Tilak Varma, Jadeja, Axar, Hardik Pandya, Shami, and Bhuvneshwar. I mean, there is no Jasprit Bumrah? There is no Shreyas Iyer in this team either. Many people said there are still doubts about Rahul’s selection when I read the comments. Some said how will you win the World Cup without Bumrah, some said Rohit should be the captain, and Sachin has made a mistake there. Sachin has not made any team at all. Normally, in these lies, at least it is believable, and you think it can be possible. But you have made a team without Bumrah and Shreyas and put Sachin’s name on it,” Aakash Chopra concluded.
