The enigma surrounding Suryakumar Yadav’s Test cricket career continues as his selection and subsequent exclusion from the Indian team remains a puzzle. Earlier this year, the dynamic batsman was included in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy squad and even made it to the playing XI in the absence of Rishabh Pant, with the expectation of providing quick runs. However, after failing to deliver, he was dropped from the team but remained in contention for future selections.

Recently, Suryakumar Yadav was not included in the Test squad for the World Test Championship, and now he has missed out on selection for the Test series against the West Indies. This ongoing uncertainty surrounding his selection and subsequent exclusion prompted former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra to raise questions about Yadav’s future in Test cricket.

Aakash Chopra also expressed his concerns about the exclusion of Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh. Despite delivering impressive performances in T20Is, Singh has had limited opportunities in the 50-over format. Chopra had expected Singh to be part of the squad against the West Indies, but to his surprise, the talented pacer was left out.

In a tweet, Aakash Chopra questioned the intermittent selection of Yadav for Tests and whether he is considered for the longest format or not. He also wondered why Arshdeep Singh was not included in the ODI squad, questioning his fitness.

Meanwhile, in the Indian Test squad, Ajinkya Rahane has been reinstated as the vice-captain, while senior batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has been dropped. Despite performing well in the County Championship Division II for Surrey, Pujara struggled in the World Test Championship final, leading to his omission from the team.
