Former Indian opener, Aakash Chopra has showered praise on Sunrisers Hyderabad’s bowling unit, saying only they have the capability to fielding an all-India bowling attack. The 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be commencing on March 31. Speaking on the ‘AakashVani’ show on JioCinema, Chopra said SRH has an entire star cast of bowlers. SRH will be facing Rajasthan Royals in their opening match on April 2.
Aakash Chopra explained, “This team’s bowling – it is an entire star cast. Fast bowlers – plenty of them – Fazalhaq Farooqi, Marco Jansen, Kartik Tyagi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, T Natarajan. In spinners, they have Mayank Markande, Akeal Hosein, Washington Sundar and Adil Rashid.”

He further added, “The fast-bowling unit and the overall bowling unit is looking very, very good. Their bowling is their strength because they are probably the only team in the tournament that can play an all-India bowling attack.”
The former opener went on to say that SRH can even field an entire Indian pace-bowling attack if they decide to rest England spinner Adil Rashid.
Explaining the same, Aakash Chopra said, “If they want, they can go with Adil Rashid. Otherwise, if you want to go with four fast bowlers and a spinner, the entire fast bowling can be made up of Indian bowlers, which will have T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik and Kartik Tyagi. All four are capable of playing in the XI.”

Aakash Chopra said SRH could field three Indian fast bowlers alongside South Africa’s Marco Jansen, and get a few overs from Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar and skipper Aiden Markram. Markram is set to lead the side for the 2023 edition after Kane Williamson was released after the 2022 season.
Talking about the same, Aakash Chopra said, “You can play three out of the four and then you can play a spinner in the form of Washington Sundar, who also bats, and then Marco Jansen and a little bowling from Aiden Markram. Abhishek Sharma also bowls a little left-arm spin.”
