India limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka is scheduled to be commencing in less than 10 days. However, a lot of veteran players will not be playing in this series, and young ones added due to impressive performance in suspended IPL 2021. Most of the veteran Indian players are in England Series after the Test Championship in England is the main reason for resting main players.
Last month, the Indian squad for the Sri Lanka tour was selected and in the absence of players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mohammad Shami, etc. are out of the squad and Shikhar Dhawan is chosen as the new skipper for this season. For this tour, six players received their maiden national call-up owing to their previous IPL performance.

Therefore, it surprised everyone before the T20 world cup because many of them performed greatly in back-to-back matches. Though it will be bowlers, all-rounders, or batsmen all of them are in great form.
India’s Squad for this Sri Lankan tour: Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Prithvi Shaw, Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Vice-captain), Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Nitish Rana, Ishan Kishan (Wicket-keeper), Sanju Samson (Wicket-keeper), Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, K Gowtham, Krunal Pandya.
After declaring this squad, Sri Lanka’s former world cup winning skipper, Arjuna Ranatunga said that choosing Shikhar Dhawan as a captain is a disrespectful act. According to him, India showed a kind of disrespect by choosing another skipper instead of Virat Kohli.

Ranatunga had said, “Dhawan-led India’s team tour of SL is an insult to Sri Lankan cricket.” On the other hand, the former Indian opener, Aakaksh Chopra slammed him back with a harsh reply as he said, ” Afghanistan doesn’t have to play T20 WC qualifier, SL have to.” Hence, fans on Twitter reacted strongly to this conversation between both cricketers.
