India’s recent loss in the World Test Championship final against Australia has left fans disheartened, especially considering the team’s track record in ICC knockouts. After winning the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, India has faced disappointment in four ICC finals and an equal number of semi-finals.

This pattern has left fans searching for answers and even attributing unusual reasons for the team’s defeats. A Twitter user took to social media to express a unique perspective, claiming that India had not won any tournament since former Indian opener Aakash Chopra became a commentator.

However, Chopra was quick to respond, pointing out that India did indeed win the 2013 Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup after he started his commentary career. In a sarcastic tone, he humorously accepted the blame for India’s losses, stating that someone had to be held accountable.

“India never won a cup since Aakash Chopra became a commentator,” the fan wrote on this Twitter handle. “I commentated on the 2013 Champions Trophy. And Asia Cup after that. But I get your point. Somebody has to be blamed for the losses. I will take it 🤗,” Chopra said in his reply to the fan.

Currently, the Indian team is enjoying a well-deserved break following the demanding Indian Premier League season and the subsequent WTC final. They will resume their cricketing commitments in July with a tour to the West Indies. The tour includes two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is, with the first Test set to begin on July 12 in Roseau, Dominica. This series will mark the beginning of India’s journey in the WTC 2023-25 cycle.

Reports suggest that some regular players may be rested for the Tests, while Hardik Pandya might lead a fresh-looking side in the T20I matches. As fans eagerly await the resumption of international cricket, the Indian team will be looking to regroup and bounce back from their recent loss, aiming for success in the upcoming series against the West Indies.
