Former Indian opener, Aakash Chopra reckons that Varun Chakravarthy has been Kolkata Knight Riders’ Most Valuable Player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Chakravarthy spun a web around Punjab Kings’ batters and picked crucial wickets throughout the Punjab line-up to dent their batting effort. Varun dismissed Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma, and Rishi Dhawan at the time they had started to tee off in the innings.

As per the quotes in Indian Today, Aakash Chopra said, “In my opinion, the most valuable player is Varun Chakaravarthy. The guy is incredible and this year he is at a different level. He won them the last match as well. He is not bowling any bad balls, there is no doubt about that.”

The former batter spoke about Varun’s bowling and said that he had added a new weapon to his already impressive armory.

Talking about the newly developed skill of Varun Chakravarthy, Aakash Chopra said, “The three wickets he took here, in that the way he got Liam Livingstone out, it is incredible. He has learned a new ball, which almost goes like a leg-spinner. He used to bowl carrom balls and googlies earlier, two types of deliveries, but he has a new addition now.”
