On Friday, former Indian opener, Aakash Chopra, who now has become a renowned commentator wished Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players and support staff who have reported to be tested positive for the novel coronavirus a speedy recovery. Some of the recent reports of India Today expressed that 12 members of the support staff and an Indian fast bowler have found positive in the recent test and they have been isolated in their team hotels in Dubai.
The reports suggest that the player in question tested positive for Covid-19 on Days 1 and 3 of the mandatory testing period in Dubai. All the members, including the player, are stable and will now be undergoing a mandatory 2-week quarantine period.
Aakash Chopra said the positive cases in the CSK camp is the perfect reflection of the current scenarios the world is facing due to the pandemic. Notably, IPL 2020 was postponed initially as it missed the April-May window. The 13th edition of the cash-rich league had to move out of India and now it will be taking place between September 19 and November 10 in bio-secure environments across Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi.

Tweeting about the same, Chopra wrote: “10 members of #CSK (including an India player) found #COVID19 positive. Wish them all a speedy recovery but it does serve as a significant reminder of the times we are living in. The sanctity of the Bio-secure bubble can never be overstated. #IPL (sic)”.

Following the positive Covid-19 cases in the camp, the whole CSK team has decided to undergo self-isolation until the end of the month and will be the last team to begin outdoor training in Dubai. All other teams, including Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) who are camped in Abu Dhabi, have access to outdoor facilities from Friday.

The Chennai-franchise was the only team that had decided to organize a training camp under bio-secure conditions before heading to the UAE. Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, who decided to hang his boots from international cricket on August 15, local CSK players and bowling coach Laxmipathy Balaji attended the camp from August 16 to 20.
