The fiery Indian batter, Suryakumar Yadav has had a terrible time against Australia in the ongoing ODI series. The batter has witnessed back-to-back golden ducks as he was caught plumb in front of the wickets twice by Mitchell Starc in the first ball of his innings. Surya, who was the world’s best T20I player in 2022 has not been able to translate his form in the ODI format. The batter, in his 22 ODI outings has scored 433 runs at an underwhelming average of 25.47.

This comes in sharp contrast against the T20I figures of Suryakumar Yadav where he already has amassed as many as 1675 runs from 48 matches at a staggering average of 46.52. Former Australia skipper, Aaron Finch analyzed Surya’s outings for the host broadcaster and said that the batter needed to pay more careful in the first few deliveries.

Discussing the game, Aaron Finch said, “I think Shubman Gill played a couple of loose shots, which would disappoint him especially after being in such good form. He was caught at backward point to not great deliveries. If you get knocked over as an opening batter by a genuine delivery, you can accept that. But when you get out when you are in such good form, you get so disappointed.”

India will be playing their final ODI match against Australia in Chennai on 22 March. This will be the team’s final assignment before Indian Premier League, which starts on 31 March.
