Abhishek Sharma’s explosive batting form has become one of India’s biggest talking points following the recently concluded Asia Cup 2025. The young left-hander piled up 314 runs in just seven matches at a staggering strike rate of 200 and an impressive average of 44.86. His ability to take on bowlers from the start has given India electrifying starts, but the upcoming tour of Australia will be a true test of his adaptability in challenging overseas conditions.

Former South African great AB de Villiers believes Abhishek’s fearless approach makes him well-suited for the fast and bouncy Australian pitches.

Sharing his thoughts on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers said, “Abhishek Sharma is in the form of his life. Some even say he’s the best opening batter in the world right now in this format. I think he’ll enjoy the conditions in Australia because there’s quite a bit of bounce. He loves freeing up his arms, hitting through the off-side, and clearing boundaries with ease. He’s an all-round player and a fantastic batter to watch.”

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Simon Helmot shed light on a key technical adjustment that has transformed Abhishek’s batting. Speaking to The Indian Express, Helmot revealed that the youngster has worked extensively on his stance and mental composure.

“He’s become more relaxed at the crease, not as tense or rigid. He now accesses both sides of the ground with ease and doesn’t over-complicate his game. His stillness at the point of impact and late timing have been exceptional,” Simon Helmot explained.

He further emphasised that Abhishek’s success is as much mental as it is technical. “It’s about belief and understanding his own game. He’s always had the skill, but now we’re seeing that ability flourish. That comes with maturity and mental toughness,” Helmot concluded.

As India prepares for the high-octane T20I series Down Under, all eyes will be on Abhishek Sharma to see if he can continue his blistering form against one of the world’s most formidable bowling attacks.
