Before every season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), social media banters grab most of the spotlight. However, on Monday, it was Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper, Virat Kohli and their star batsman AB de Villiers having a go at each other on Twitter. Ahead of their reunion in Chennai, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers were seen engaging in cheeky banter. It all began when Virat Kohli posted a video of him running on a treadmill on social media while gearing up for the 14th season of IPL 2021.

A day after leading India to a 2-1 ODI series win against England, Kohli was seen sweating it out in the gym. The social media video caught the attention of AB de Villiers, who will soon be joining the RCB bubble in Chennai. While de Villiers complimented Kohli, praising his form, the India skipper took a cheeky jibe at his dear friend and superstar teammate.

Tweeting to ABD about the same, Kohli wrote: “Hope you’re still fast between the wickets.” The former South Africa batsman responded by challenging Kohli as he tweeted: “Let’s race tomorrow to find out.”

The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli is expected to join the RCB bubble in Chennai as the former finalists will be commencing their campaign against 5-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on the opening day of IPL 2021 — April 9.

While Virat Kohli has managed to get his form back by amassing 231 runs in 5 T20is and 129 runs in 3 ODIs, AB de Villiers has not played competitive cricket since the play-offs match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on November 6 in IPL 2020 in the UAE.

Both Kohli and de Villiers will be expected to play a crucial role as the Bengaluru-based franchise would look to build on a solid IPL 2020 season — where they made it to the playoffs for the first time in 4 years. The addition of Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell adds firepower to the middle-order and expected to take the load off Kohli and de Villiers in the middle order.
