However, former South African skipper AB de Villiers has hinted at some exciting prospects, sparking speculation among fans. While optimistic about the squad’s potential, he pointed out a notable gap in their bowling attack—a lack of a wicket-taking mystery spinner.
“I am quietly confident and fairly excited. But I still feel we are lacking a mystery spinner, a match-winner, and an out-and-out wicket-taker. I was hoping to see Chahal back or someone similar, but we’ve got Krunal Pandya and some other good spinners,” he explained.

Regarding captaincy, AB de Villiers suggested that Virat Kohli might reclaim the leadership role. “I don’t think it’s been confirmed yet, but he will likely be the captain,” he speculated. Kohli’s potential return as captain has reignited hopes of breaking the franchise’s IPL title drought.
