AB de Villiers Expected To Make His International Comeback In May?

Former South Africa skipper, AB de Villiers is expected to call off his retirement and make a comeback in international cricket for the Proteas during the Sri Lanka tour later this year. The South African coach, Mark Boucher, has given the player a deadline of June 1 to make himself available.

De Villiers was not considered for selection during the T20 series against Australia. However, CSA has given a deadline to him along with Imran Tahir and Chris Morris to make themselves available if they are willing to play for South Africa in the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup. ABD has earlier expressed his desire to play in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020.

Talking about te same to cricket.com.au., Boucher said, “The big one is the IPL so we decided to let those guys – the free agents if you want to call them that – do the IPL and then afterward make themselves available. We’ve still got quite a few games (before the World Cup). From the first of June, which is the Sri Lanka tour, those guys need to make themselves available. Whether we select them is another story. But they need to make themselves available if they want to put their hands up for a World Cup spot.”

Last year, giving the fans something to rejoice, de Villiers went on to reveal that he is considering calling off his retirement to play the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup.

As per the quotes in cricket.com.au, De Villiers ad said, “I’ve been talking to ‘Bouch’ (new South Africa coach Mark Boucher), (new director of cricket) Graeme Smith and (captain) Faf (du Plessis) back home, we’re all keen to make it happen. So I’m thinking of throwing my name in the hat and hoping that everything will work out.”

De Villiers had decided to hang his boots from international cricket on May 23, 2018. However, he tried to stage a comeback in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019, but lack of communication with the management couldn’t make it possible to happen.
