With a player of AB’s quality back in the team, it increases the Proteas’ chances of winning the upcoming T20 World Cup. Although bringing AB back can also have a lot of ripple effects as it sets a precedent for other players to follow.

If Ab de Villiers gets a chance to be back, it will leave some of the current SA cricketers unhappy as AB’s return would take away a slot of a current player from the T20 squad. Coach of the SA cricket team, Mark Boucher, believes that de Villiers should decide on making a comeback once the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League ends.

Speaking with the media Rhodes said,  “You want your best team to play… It’s also tough on the guys who then miss out. You know AB is a very special player, so do you set a precedent for a guy like AB de Villiers if he is not playing for South Africa… I mean, why are you selecting him?”

He added, “I suppose a lot of people will watch how he performs in the IPL, but just watching him in the Big Bash League, he’s such a class player; I’m a big fan of AB de Villiers. But I’m just not sure of the precedent. If you want to win a T20 World Cup, you should do anything to win it. You’re not breaking any rules, you are setting a slight precedent, and you are going to be upsetting a few players who are going to miss out.”

Sharing his ideas and explaining his point of view, Johnty ends with saying that he isn’t somebody who is going to earn/ miss anything from the situations. He believes that the Cricket South Africa administration has been the takes the decision of setting up a precedent or not. Rhoades ends with expressing his excitement if he will get a chance to see AB play for the South Africa team once again.
